Subtle changes in a kitchen layout can bring enormous added functionality. In this kitchen, the owners no longer used the area set aside for a kitchen table because it did not work when hosting large family gatherings. As a result, we were able to enlarge the cramped U-shape of the layout so that two cooks can work simultaneously and the dishwasher can be next to the sink. The former built-in dining bench was converted to a lovely custom buffet, and now family and friends can gather at the peninsula seating area. Traffic easily flows from the kitchen to the porch and also to the dining room through an enlarged opening. Beautiful honed Bianco Carrara tile and veined white quartz provide a crisp background for the Bertazzoni range from Italy.
