Why hire an independent designer?
Many contractors can design a remodel, and some have in-house designers. But having your own designer gives you the ability to get multiple quotes from the same plans. A designer is your advocate and has a vested interest to create a solution that works for your family, your home, and your budget.
Consultation
During this complimentary meeting we will discuss your vision for the project. We will walk through your home, explore ideas and get to know each other. A design agreement with a small deposit is all that’s needed once you’re ready to move forward.
Plan Development
Measurements are taken and several concept plans are developed for your review. We’ll do a virtual walkthrough using 3D renderings which clients find very helpful in making decisions. Working together we’ll arrive at your preferred layout. A set of detailed plans is created including current and proposed floor plans, wall and cabinet elevations, electrical plans, and site plans if required.
Material and Product Selections
Cabinets, countertops, tile, flooring, lighting, hardware, plumbing… I’ll take the stress out of the details by narrowing down options, providing samples of materials or we may visit showrooms. Your selections are documented in a detailed Material Schedule.
Contractor Bids
At this point you are ready to present the design package to your builder. If needed, I can refer qualified general contractors to provide estimates for the work.
Construction
During the construction phase I am always available for plan edits or consultation. Depending upon your builder, I can help with material ordering and scheduling to ensure your project is a success.
