I specialize in residential remodels and additions such as kitchens, baths, primary suites, basements, attic conversions and porches. I have a particular interest in historic homes but appreciate the range of architectural styles we have in the Twin Cities. Here is a general guide to the design process.
Consultation
During this complimentary meeting we will discuss your vision for the project. We will walk through your home, explore ideas and get to know each other. A design agreement with a small deposit is all that’s needed once you’re ready to move forward.
Plan Development
Based on your goals, I create several concept plans and 3D renderings to start the design process. Working together we’ll arrive at your preferred layout. The result is a detailed bid plan set including current and proposed floor plans, wall and cabinet elevations, electrical plans, and site plans if required.
Material Selections
Cabinets, countertops, tile, plumbing, flooring, lighting, hardware… I’ll take the stress out of the details by creating a detailed material schedule down to the last cabinet pull. We will visit showrooms to make the product selections, creating a cohesive look for your new space.
Contractor Bids
At this point you are ready to present the design package to your builder. If needed, I can refer qualified general contractors to provide estimates. Once you have signed with a contractor, I create a permit plan set for the city’s review.
Construction
During the construction phase I am always available for plan edits or consultation to ensure your project is a success.
